Bananas
While visiting with a friend this past weekend I learned something that could change the way I grocery shop forever. I learned...
(dramatic pause)
that you can separate bananas from their bunches in the grocery store! I has always assumed that the only option was to buy the bananas in the bunches they were already in. I would spend several minutes searching for the bunch with the right number of bananas (which as a single chick, that means about three, and that's stink'n' hard to find!), and several times walked away banana-less and despairing that there was not a bunch that met my needs. And now I am left with the mixed feeling of joy in the freedom this knowledge will bring to my future banana-purchasing experiences and sorrow over all the unnecessary times I purchased more bananas than needed and let one or two go to waste or just gave up and went banana-less. Sigh.
So I felt I should share with all my faithful blog-viewers (all 3 or 4 of you, that is), so that your banana shopping would not be filled with unnecessary angst as mine was for so long.

funny how the word "angst" has been a bigger part of your vocabulary since we watched the breakfast club last weekend.
the thought of you leaving a grocery store, disappointed and banana-less, makes me sad. glad that won't happen again. enjoy your potassium.

Although I personally do not eat bananas, I can appreciate the "angst" of someone who after many years of banana shopping just now happened upon this life altering revelation.
I will remember that next time I'm at Kroger...smile.
